About
I've spent my career building software.
Now I help kids do the same.
Stanley Tutoring is run by me — one instructor, one-on-one. No rotating contractors, no college-student stand-ins. Every session I teach, I teach personally.
My story
I started my career at Verizon as a Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality developer, building immersive training simulations for over 130,000 employees. These weren't demos — they were production software used to prepare people for high-stakes situations they'd encounter on the job, from emergency response drills to complex customer scenarios.
That foundation carried me into full-stack web development, where I built internal applications supporting Verizon's day-to-day operations. I've shipped code that real people depend on — and that's the lens I bring to teaching: software isn't abstract, and kids shouldn't learn it that way.
Teaching has always been part of the work. I've personally mentored two individuals from zero programming experience into professional software engineer roles. Watching that trajectory — from "I don't know where to start" to shipping real production code — is the part of this work I find most rewarding.
I started Stanley Tutoring because I believe kids deserve to understand how code actually works. More than ever, with AI reshaping every industry, the ability to think computationally is going to define what's possible for the next generation. My goal is to give your child that foundation in a way that's hands-on, creative, and genuinely fun.
Teaching philosophy
Real tools. Real projects. Real understanding.
We build things that actually work.
Every track ends with something your child has made — a game, a website, an app, a VR experience. Not worksheets. Not quizzes. Real software they can show friends.
I meet kids where they are.
Every student is different. A 7-year-old's first Scratch project and a 16-year-old's React portfolio are different conversations — and I run both.
Tools professionals actually use.
Unity, Python, JavaScript, C#, Git. The same tools I've used at Verizon and in my own indie projects. No closed ecosystems that don't transfer.
AI literacy from day one.
Your kids will use AI their entire professional lives. I teach them how to collaborate with it effectively — not as a shortcut, but as a skill.
